Η Πάτρα υποδέχεται το 8ο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ποίησης, 15–21 Σεπτεμβρίου 2025, με θέμα «Φωνές Πέρα από τον Ορίζοντα», τιμώντας τη Γαλλία ως φετινή τιμώμενη χώρα. Το φεστιβάλ, υπό την αιγίδα του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού και Αθλητισμού, διοργανώνεται από το Γραφείο Ποιήσεως Ελλάδας και το Culturebook.gr σε συνεργασία με τα Διεθνή Βραβεία Ποίησης «Jean Moréas». Η είσοδος είναι ελεύθερη.
Το πρόγραμμα συνδυάζει υπαίθριες αναγνώσεις σε κεντρικά σημεία της Πάτρας, τρίγλωσση επιμέλεια, εκπαιδευτικές δράσεις σε 31 Λύκεια της Δυτικής Ελλάδας και πολιτιστικές συναντήσεις με μουσική, θέατρο και εικαστικές τέχνες. Το φεστιβάλ τιμά επίσης τον Μανόλη Αναγνωστάκη, 100 χρόνια από τη γέννησή του και 20 χρόνια από τον θάνατό του.
Συμμετέχουν 83 ποιητές από 23 χώρες, με έμφαση στην ποικιλία, την ισότητα, τη βιωσιμότητα και την πολιτιστική αναγέννηση των πόλεων. Το πρόγραμμα περιλαμβάνει μεταξύ άλλων:

17 Σεπτεμβρίου: Φάροι της Ελληνικής Ποίησης, Προαύλιος Χώρος Αίθουσας Κάνιστρα, Νέο Λιμάνι Πατρών.

18 Σεπτεμβρίου: Υπαίθριες αναγνώσεις σε πλατείες και σκάλες της Πάτρας, με συμμετοχή ποιητών από 6 χώρες και συναυλία με τον Δημήτρη Βασιλάκη.

19 Σεπτεμβρίου: Διαπολιτισμικές διασταυρώσεις, τιμητική βραδιά «Φύλακες του Ορίζοντα» και απονομή Βραβείων «Ελαίας Κότινος».

20 Σεπτεμβρίου: Ημερίδα «Η Ποίηση Σήμερα» στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών και συναυλία με το συγκρότημα του Νίκου Πλατύραχου.

21 Σεπτεμβρίου: Εορταστική λήξη στο χώρο Αχάια Κλάους.

Το 8th Patras World Poetry Festival 2025 :Voices Beyond the Horizon
The 8th Patras World Poetry Festival (PWPF) will take place from 15–21 September 2025 with an expanded, outward-looking programme centred in Patras. This year’s honoured country is France. The Festival is organised by the Poetry Office of Greece and Culturebook.gr, in collaboration with the International Poetry Prizes “Jean Moréas,” and remains non-profit with free admission for the public, aligning cultural ambition with the accessibility of public space.
This year’s theme, “Voices Beyond the Horizon,” treats poetry as a language of connection in unstable times. The theme addresses a world marked by volatility—where poetry offers reflection, solidarity, and a shared public sphere. It is framed by the voice of Manolis Anagnostakis —“I loved… the distant lighthouses, the lights of an improbable horizon”—, as Greece commemorates 100 years since his birth and 20 years since his death. The guiding values of the Festival—equality, diversity and inclusion, sustainability, and the cultural regeneration of cities—remain at the core of its programme and partnerships.
The 8th Patras World Poetry Festival places emphasis on open-air readings at central sites in Patras (e.g. the pedestrian streets of Agiou Nikolaou, Maizonos, Gerokostopoulou, Pantanassis, Trion Navarchon), on strong trilingual curation (the poet’s language – Greek – English), and on school engagement that extends the successful activities of recent years, visiting 31 high schools in the region this year. Events are concentrated in Patras, with targeted interventions in cities of Western Greece through school activities, so that guest poets, students, and the public may experience both the living city and its historic surroundings. Alongside readings, the programme includes poetry with music and theatre, dialogues with the visual arts, public discussions and meetings with the poets, ensuring that dialogue between artists and audience remains immediate and reciprocal. A bilingual anthology of participating poets will follow.
At an institutional level, the 8th Patras World Poetry Festival collaborates with embassies, universities, municipal and regional bodies, highlighting its public character and international scope. The Memorandum of Cooperation with the University of Patras secures joint activity in education and culture. The 8th Patras World Poetry Festival has also developed structured ties with European partners, including: Sète (France), Sofia Metaphors (Bulgaria), Maribor Bookfest (Slovenia), the Ana Blandiana / Iași / Brașov / Bucharest / Constanța / Ploiești Poetry Festivals (Romania), the Skopje Poetry Festival (North Macedonia), Protimluv Fest (Czech Republic), the Gibraltar Literature Festival, and the LEA Festival Athens. These collaborations support guest curation, reciprocal participation, and shared dialogue on festival practice, translation, and audience development.

It fully aligns with the high standards of World Poetry Festivals and aspires to highlight the pluralism of global poetry, the complementarity of poetic voices and identities, and the evolutionary vitality of poetic expression.

This morning session brings together poets from Greece, Romania, Azerbaijan, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Gibraltar. The roster blends lyrical intensity with performative energy, highlighting contrasts between Mediterranean lyricism, Balkan and Caucasus textures, and Northern-European poetics. Positioned early in the day, it sets an open, polyphonic tone for the festival’s wider dialogues.
